A flat, calm, overcast and drizzly day which yielded tremendous wildlife! The Humpback Whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) did some lunge feeding, the Risso's Dolphins (Grampus griseus) came around and one breached, the Common Dolphins (Delphinus capensis) rode alongside the Condor Express, and the Pacific White-sided Dolphins (Lagenorhyncus obliquidens) were on the scene too. At one point, a juvenile California Sea Lion (Zalophus californianus) got extremely close to two Humbacks and there was some interaction between the species.

This Humpback Whale is completely upside down, mouth open, and lower jaw pointing straight up in the air. The top part of the head and mouth are just beneath the surface of the water, and the greatly expanded ventral grooves have formed an enormous pouch full of water and krill.
A Humpback Whale lunge-feeds sideways, moving towards the upper left corner of this image. The mouth is open and the baleen can be seen inside the upper jaw to the right.
