A humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) is seen here with deep scars probably caused by the propeller of a large boat.
This whale has been seen several years in a row in the Santa Barbara Channel, and first showed up this season around March. The scars appear to have been caused by a small boat propeller.

Here's an interesting scar pattern on the back of a Humpback Whale (Megaptera novaengliae)...probably the result of being cut by a boat propeller.
