A California sea lion rests on the harboar entrance buoy. This animal has a necklace scar stemming from its past entanglement with fishing net material. Our own Captain Dave and his colleagues disentangled this sea lion a week or so ago and treated the wound. We are watching it slowly heal.

A California sea lion rests on the harbor entrance buoy. This animal was temporarily captured by a rescue team which removed nylon fishing line that was wrapped around the neck. The damage, called a necklace wound, is still visible but the prognosis is good.
